Experience

For over thirteen years, people upon entering Marlisa's Wig Studio and Day Spa have felt a loving, welcoming presence in the knowledgeable and capable hands of the staff.

Marlisa Small, the owner of Marlisa's Wig Studio and Day Spa created a prMarlisa Smallofessional but warm atmosphere in her cozy nook in Little River. When Marlisa imparts a positive energy to those who enter, they know they have entered the premier Wig Shop in SC.
Marlisa's personal experience with cancer is why the best known wig shop in South Carolina is so caring and empathetic. Twenty four years ago, Marlisa was diagnosed with cancer and the treatment resulted in hair loss on the scalp and elsewhere on the body.
Marlisa was determined not to be a victim. The emotional aspects of hair loss range from anxiety, depression, frustration and poor self-esteem. Although not life-threatening, hair loss is most certainly life-altering and its sudden onset and unpredictable course have a profound psychological impact.
Marlisa's Wig Studio and Day Spa reflects years of research bringing the best solutions for any woman facing hair loss either through disease or chemotherapy. At the premier wig shop of SC, you will know you are not alone. Marlisa and her staff know there are over 20 million women with hair loss problems and millions more undergoing chemotherapy.

Hair Loss

Hair loss consulting experience enables Marlisa to custom fit and cut wigs to provide women with a 'new look' or a return to their former beauty. Consulting at the shop or during a hospital visit is available with Marlisa's personal touch. Women undergoing chemotherapy don't need to wait till discharge. Consulting is private, free, confidential and offered with no obligation. No one needs to know the wig solution you have chosen. Your privacy is paramount with Marlisa's Wig Studio and Day Spa.
With thinning hair, think about hair extensions. Extensions provide volume and freedom. Wear your hair up or down. The right extension can enable women to enjoy tennis, swimming, fitness and many other activities. You can even shower.
One of the best gifts you can give a friend undergoing hair loss from chemotherapy or any reason is a free consultation with Marlisa's Wig Studio and Day Spa, the premier wig shop in SC. Or better yet, ask about purchasing a gift certificate.

The Marlisa's Wig Studio and Day Spa offers personalized, in-shop or in-hospital free consultation to select the proper style, color and fit.

Fashion/Fun/Convenience

Many women wear wigs to develop elaborate hair styles impossible with their natural hair. Some women with short hair want an immediate change to a long hair style to present an alluring and mysterious aura.
A wig allows a woman to accelerate changing her looks without delay or, if a change in color is desired, a commitment. Want a funky hair style, bold and imaginative, but not be stuck with it forever? Wigs provide the answer. Having a bad hair day? Slip on a wig. In too much of a hurry after a shower: Grab a wig and run. Some styles and colors are simply impossible to achieve with one's own hair. Wearing wigs, woman can have straight, curly, long or neon-purple hair.

Recognition

This article was writen by Rusty Ray and published by SCNow in December, 2011.
Marlisa Small makes it her business to help her customers look good and feel good whenever they can.
"When they walk in the door, I'm able to know what color, what style, and go straight for three or four different wigs that I can help them with," said Small, owner of Marlisa's Wig Studio and Day Spa on S.C. Highway 90.
Small, a 30-plus year cancer survivor, even gives cancer patients a free wig when they come for a consultation.
"Wigs used to be heavy and they look like wigs," she said. "The wigs today are very light and salon-inspired colors, so these ladies don't necessarily have to look like they're sick. They're going to look like they did before they got sick."
Small recently also held a fundraiser at Martini's Continental Cuisine and Piano Bar and was able to donate $3,000 to the American Cancer Society.
"We love our corporate sponsors, and that's basically what Marlisa has done is incorporated the community into her fundraiser and we greatly appreciate it," said Denise Richbourg with the American Cancer Society. The money can help with the Look Good, Feel Better program, which helps match cancer patients with wigs and make-up. It, along with plenty of other programs the American Cancer Society offers, relies on help from volunteers--many who are cancer survivors.
"They know what it's like to go through it," said Richbourg. "They're wonderful  when they come back and help support us."
One of those volunteers is Shirley Tacchetti of Brunswick County.  She is five years cancer-free, and says she wishes she'd known about Marlisa's kind offer when she was sick.
"Losing my hair was the worst thing--more than losing my breasts," said Tacchetti. "You know, I could deal with that, but it was like, 'oh my gosh, now I don't have hair!'"
"I just feel like, when you do something good, and it makes you feel good inside, you know that's the way you are to feel," said Small.
